It was February of this year (sorry, I don't recall the date), and the band was going to play at Southside Music Hall, a night club here in Mobile, AL. My girlfriend and I drove downtown, and when we got there, there was talk about Southside's PA not working, so no show.

Needless to say, I was upset--I've been a 7M3 fan since before American Standard even came out. All worked out well, though. Instead of doing what a lot (probably most) bands would have done--packing their shit and going home--this band takes some chairs outside, get out acoustic guitars and conga drums. They proceeded to give a mini-unplugged show on the sidewalk of Mobile's busiest night spot! I was very happy! We stuck around after the show, got autographs from the two Jasons, who promised to come back (even though I see that in March, they're going to Birmingham, AL and Panama City, FL).

PS: They played Lame, Roderigo, Anything, Cumbersome, and a couple of new tunes (Black Wing and (I think) Lucky). Not in that order.

If I wasn't a huge fan before that night, I am now!!!!!

I had the privilege of seeing 7M3 last night (3/10/96) at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT, and the show was great!!! You could just tell that the whole band was totally into their music, and that they wanted to give the audience a good show. That was great, because so many bands just play shows like they don't really care...these guys were intense. They sounded perfect, and J. Ross' voice was incredible! During the show, J. and the girl from Poe (who opened) both had some fun with the crowd, and stage dove...Not only was the music awesome, but after the show the guys came out, and I got to meet all four of them, and talk with them and get their autographs. I have such great respect for these guys, because not only were they totally into their music, but they were also very down-to-earth and friendly...if only more band members were like this...7M3 is a great band both live, and on CD, so if anyone hasn't bought American Standard yet...you're missing out big time--they're four cool dudes!

The 7M3 acoustic performance was a great hit at the Ohio State University ballroom. Despite the cold weather many students skipped classes to see the free show. I was one of them. I stood right in front of lead singer, Jason Ross. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting while the band did a brief sound check, the doors were opened and we were let in.

The first thing that the guys said to us was, "You should all sit down, we're going to." Nobody listened and we were assured that the band would start things off a little quiet and "build it up." The guys opened with a song called oven that was a mellow tune. Not until the forth song, Lucky, did they get down to some serious loud stuff. Despite playing on a hardwood floor the sound was great.

Jason Ross gave the music life with unbelievable range in the lyrics. He went from almost a whisper to a feverish scream with ease in just about every song that he sang especially Margaret and Roderigo. After playing Cumbersome, some of the crowd left and went elsewhere. Then the guys joked and said that they would write notes to OSU faculty for everyone that missed a class to see the show. They then played their last song of the day, a cover of Fortunate Son, by Credence Clearwater Revival. It was unbelievable.

After most of the fans left I was still there. I went and talked with the guys and got their autographs. They were really friendly and didn't mind talking at all. Overall, the show was great. The atmosphere was really friendly and hopefully we made the band comfortable.

That was THE best concert I've ever seen -- better than White Zombie, better than Tesla, better than Coolio, better than any of them! They opened with Water's Edge, played their full complement of tunes, and closed with my favorite song, Favorite Dog. I stuck my hand out towards Casey after Favorite Dog, and he gave me a five and put some thing into my hand -- his guitar pick! After the encore (they played some of their new stuff), they came down into the crowd and autographed my C.D. I am so hoarse from singing I can't talk today. They did not allow cameras, but I got autographs, and that is something that none of my friends can say. I have to go buy another C.D. today because I cannot listen to the autographed one anymore! I once again have to say that this was the best concert I've ever seen.
